On Sunday night, July 30, Honu was honored to be a participant in a very special benefit to help raise funds for the Huntington Lighthouse. Two local families, Bob and Susan Quinn and Dan and Diane Barry put forth a goal to ask 20 couples to donate $1000 per couple or $500 per head towards the lighthouse. And if they did they would then invite them to a progressive cocktail party created by them. In the end they were more than 20 couples and they raised over $26,000 for the lighthouse.
It was an amazing night, the weather was beautiful, and the food was spectacular. Honu catered Dan and Diane Barry's house with Sumptuous hors d'oeuvres and amazing signature cocktails! Honu Kitchen & Cocktails has announced the appointment of Koji Kakimoto as the restaurants new Executive Chef. He began his new position on April 1, 2017. Chef Kakimoto brings almost 10 years of experience to his new role, having worked at some of the most highly regarded restaurants on Long Island, most recently heading up the kitchen at Stag's Head Gastropub in Huntington to rave reviews.
In his position at Honu, he will oversee all culinary aspects of the restaurant, including catering and special events. Although the seasonal American menu will remain the same, the new chef will introduce his unique culinary style by incorporating ideas into Honu's nightly specials.
Growing up, Koji's half Japanese, half Irish-Italian heritage presented him with the opportunity to cultivate an appreciation for food and tastes from these distinct cultural backgrounds. As a result, his style of cooking and the techniques that he uses is a fusion of the different cultures and foods that he was exposed to since he was a kid.

Once again, Honu Kitchen & Cocktails will be offering our full menu during the Spring Long Island Restaurant Week which takes place from April 23-30, 2017. Although Honu is normally closed on Mondays, we will open on April 24 so that we can offer our restaurant week menu for the full 8 days.
Honu will treat customers to a three-course dining experience for $28.95 per person plus tax and tip (Saturday until 7 p.m. only). Although most restaurants prepare a special Restaurant Week Menu with a small selection of choices for appetizer, entree and dessert, we allow our customers to choose from the entire dinner menu. There is a $10 surcharge for Filet Mignon, NY Strip Steak, Chilean Sea Bass and 12 oz. Berkshire Pork Chop (Surf & Turf offered at market price).
